Animal cell lines, particularly mammalian cell lines, express proteins that closely resemble those found in humans, including various post-translational modifications such as glycosylation, acetylation, methylation, and sulfation. Consequently, they are frequently employed in both in vitro and in vivo assays, as well as in the production of recombinant proteins, vaccines, anti-cancer agents, and other clinically relevant drugs.
