Cell Cytotoxicity Assay

Cell viability and cytotoxicity assays are widely used to evaluate the compound effect on tumor cell growth in drug discovery. The CellTiter-Glo Luminescent Cell Viability Assay is a convenient and effective system for analyzing cell viability based on the amount of ATP produced by cells. The quantitation of the ATP signals the presence of metabolically active cells and is directly proportional to the number of living cells present in culture.

Assays are performed using a 96-well format. Each data point is tested in triplicate, and appropriate assay controls are included. 

The homogeneous assay procedure involves adding a single reagent (CellTiter-Glo® Reagent) directly to cells cultured in serum-supplemented medium. After mixing for 2 minutes and incubation for 10 minutes, record the luminescence.

The system is optimized to allow rapid data collection when using automated image acquisition hardware and data processing software.
